I’ve spent years meeting with and learning about business people. I like to think that the financial business is really “the business of business,” and it has afforded me many opportunities to learn from the very best. I spend my working hours “sharpening my own saw,” to become an expert on understanding entrepreneurs and self-driven businesspeople.

There are a lot of great business people, and a lot of great businesses. In my opinion, the best of the best— are about impact. They are driven by purpose, character, and belief.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve left a meeting with my mind totally blown— in disbelief of what I’m hearing. I’ve been in transactions where a man with three teeth, dressed in mud-covered overalls, has shown me where he always keeps “$75 Million liquid, in case we need to expand quickly.” I’ve watched people move from living paycheck-to-paycheck to generating nine figures, in less than three years. I’ve seen people risk everything for their dreams, and been with entrepreneurs who lost it all in a tenth the time it took for them to make millions.

No matter the scenario, these dreamers, risk-takers, and sometimes just plain “wild animals,” are actually all— just human beings. I have ALWAYS WANTED to share these crazy, awesome, scary, insane, touching, unique, and sometimes unfathomable- stories with YOU.

So I decided, “ITS TIME!” I want to share my brand with you. I am about legacy, and part of my legacy personally, is introducing you to these amazing people and incredible concepts. I want to share these relationships and stories with you, and I want them to be VALUABLE to your life.

When Taylor was twenty-two years old, he was one of the people who failed to grasp this valuable lesson. He started his company in the financial space, with a plan to blow the doors off the industry. Success came, but not before many hurdles and humbling experiences that made him realize the true value of relationships, mentorship, and the human condition.

Early in the trajectory of Sledge&Company, Taylor became fascinated with entrepreneurship. In a world where the internet age is birthing startups at an all-time high, he made it his mission to specialize in learning more about what drives the individuals that create and grow these amazing companies, and how they overcome some of the personal challenges in taking risks and “putting themselves ‘out there’.” Taylor is in constant pursuit of being an expert in understanding businesspeople and how they accomplish their dreams and goals. He’s learned that being a great entrepreneur is not only about an effective transaction, a new invention, or a certain “business prowess.” It is primarily about who the businessperson is on the inside—their story, the driving force of their psychology, their values, what makes them “tick,” —-and the way they ultimately relate to and treat others.

One of Taylor’s favorite sayings is:

“Every person who has mentored me owns a piece of the Emotional Equity of my future.”

Taylor has found that relationships and mentorship are the only purely irreplaceable elements in being an entrepreneur.

Taylor was named one of the “Top Four Under 40” Financial Professionals in America by the National Association of Financial Advisors. He has been featured in USA TODAY, Entrepreneur Magazine, The International Business Times, and many other publications. He speaks nationally and internationally about Mentorship, Legacy, Business, and Entrepreneurship. He is a husband, father, and an avid outdoorsman.
